Open Access Policy
Open Access Statement
Mycological Science is a fully open access journal. Following the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and the definitions and best practices of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), all articles are freely and permanently available online from the moment of publication, and may be read, downloaded, copied, distributed and cited without charge.
License
All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Provided that the authors and source are appropriately credited, a link to the license is given, and any changes are indicated, anyone may use the full text, figures and data for any purpose, including commercial reuse. Full license text: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
Copyright
Copyright of published articles remains with the authors. By submitting a manuscript, authors agree to publish the article under CC BY 4.0 and confirm that the work is original and does not infringe any third-party rights.
Reader Rights
Under CC BY 4.0, readers may read, download and store articles; print and make copies; distribute and display them in course packs, presentations and social media; and reuse them for research, teaching and any other lawful purpose, subject only to appropriate attribution.
Self-Archiving
The journal permits and encourages self-archiving. Authors may deposit and distribute any version of their article (submitted, accepted or published) on personal websites, institutional repositories or subject repositories without seeking additional permission, preferably with the formal citation (journal, volume, issue, pages, DOI).
Data and Material Sharing
Authors are encouraged to share research data following the FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable). Specimen records are recommended to GBIF; nucleotide sequences to GenBank/ENA/DDBJ with accession numbers; new taxa to MycoBank or Index Fungorum; and strains to recognized culture collections with identifiers.
Long-Term Preservation and Identifiers
The journal is committed to the permanent availability of its content. Every article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI, to be registered with CrossRef), and preservation is supported through redundant hosting and recognized digital preservation mechanisms such as LOCKSS/CLOCKSS and the PKP Preservation Network.
Open Access Charges
Articles are free to read immediately upon publication. To sustain editorial and publishing operations, a modest page charge applies to accepted manuscripts (see For Authors); the charge does not affect the open access status of articles, and no fee is ever charged to readers.
Policy Updates
Any revision of this policy will be published on this page with the date of update indicated. Matters not covered here follow the recommendations of ICMJE and COPE.
