Publication Ethics

Mycological Science adheres to the publication ethics guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All authors, reviewers and editors are expected to comply with the following policies.

Authors' Responsibilities

  • Submissions must be original with reliable data; fabrication and falsification are prohibited

  • Multiple submission, redundant publication and salami slicing are prohibited; prior work must be properly cited

  • All authors must have made substantial contributions and approved the submission

  • Studies involving human subjects, animal experiments or environmental release require appropriate ethical approval

  • All funding sources and potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed

Peer Review Ethics

  • Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly and in a timely manner

  • Reviewers must keep manuscript contents confidential and must not misuse unpublished information

  • Reviewers with competing or collaborative relationships with the authors must recuse themselves

  • Reasonable requests for excluded reviewers made by authors will be respected

Editorial Responsibilities

  • Editorial decisions are based solely on academic quality, free from commercial or personal influence

  • Editors keep manuscripts and review information strictly confidential

  • Editors may consult the editorial board or seek additional reviews for controversial submissions

Misconduct Handling

  • Manuscripts are screened by plagiarism-detection systems before publication

  • For published articles confirmed to involve misconduct, corrections or retractions will be issued according to the severity, and the outcome will be reported to the authors' institutions and partner databases in line with COPE guidelines

Data and Images

  • Raw data should be properly archived and made available to the editorial office upon request

  • Image adjustments are limited to overall brightness and contrast; local retouching, splicing or removal of original information is prohibited

Appeals and Complaints

Authors or readers may appeal review decisions or raise concerns about published content via editor@mycological.net. The editorial office will respond within 30 working days.
